If you know us well, you’d know we’re real party animals. So when the day came where we were asked – can we hold a bachelorette party? – we got more excited, presumably, than the bride-to be.
We almost kicked ourselves for never thinking of that before. A bachelorette party working out with your bridesmaids? Getting all hot and sweaty with your favourite bunch of gals? Getting into shape for that wedding dress? How could we not have thought of it before?
Getting lots of booze and bringing the bachelorette to the bar or club is still a pretty important component of every bachelorette party, but it’s time to mix in something interesting! Fitness is the new sexy, and the rush of endorphins after a great workout should be what all brides-to-be should be aiming for! Seriously, looking great for a wedding with nice rose-tinted cheeks from regular exercise is so much more attractive than eye bags from drinking too much. We know.
Of course, we said hell yeah!

/in Challenges, Events/by SURFSET SingaporeFor fitness and nutrition, we always preach the keyword – moderation. However, some days it’s good to turn things up a notch and bring things into the extreme.
That’s exactly what we’re going for on the 26th of December, 2015 – BACK TO BACK BURNS! It’s a promotional day where we will run two full-session classes back to back, starting with Balance for 45 minutes, and continuing with Core or Sweat for another 45 minutes! Here’s the deal: this will only count as a single session in your package.
It’ll be the day after Christmas, so it’s going to be perfect for burning off all that Christmas eating and drinking revelry. A superb way to get yourself into shape for making New Year’s resolutions, if you ask us.

Tongues on fire – Spiced Kale Chips
/in Tips & Shout outs/by SURFSET SingaporeWe made these Spiced Kale Chips at home because we love to eat clean, and we were surprised by how easy it was and how good it tastes. These chips are high in fibre content with great nutritional value and high in vitamins. Here’s our easy-to-follow recipe – it’s surprisingly simple and doesn’t take too much time or ingredients. With the right amount of chili powder, you can add that spicy kick that reminds us of those spicy Korean seaweed that we sometimes like to indulge in. The best part of making our own snacks is controlling the amount of salt (we didn’t even add any), and knowing there isn’t any MSG or preservatives in the chips.
Left to right: Washing the kale; Kale in the oven; Kale in the oven later; Kale in the oven – almost done; Serve and enjoy!

Anlene’s Active Places are all about alternative gyms to get fit in unconventional ways – we think SURFSET Fitness is a great fit for this feature. What is most important, though, is about getting more people interested in fitness and exercise, whether it’s doing traditional workouts, joining conventional classes like yoga or pilates, or even simpler things like going for jogs, long walks, and working out at home.
